Bush Favors Clinton as Democratic Candidate

The Washington Post recently reported that last week President Bush invited select news anchors to an off-the-record luncheon prior to his nationally televised address on Iraq.

While he refrained from making any predictions, he said that he was impressed with Senator Clinton’s Presidential campaign and alluded to the fact that the thought Hillary would win the Democratic nomination and spoke in a way that suggested he expects her to succeed him as President.

The broadcasters were not allowed to quote Bush, but one reporter later cited the analogy of President Eisenhower adopting Truman’s foreign policy despite his opposition during his Presidential campaign. President Bush also appears to be surprised that former NYC mayor Rudy Giuliani remains the Republican front runner.
