Giuliani’s Out

Rudy Giuliani announced this afternoon that he is formally withdrawing from the presidential race. Rudy had spent several months and millions of dollars in Florida, pinning his campaign on a strong showing there. Between his campaign’s financial trouble and last night’s third place finish sealed the deal, there was little chance of a recovery.

During his statement he also endorsed Senator John McCain, but the real news of the day is his withdrawal. Rudy’s endorsement may help McCain in New York, but that’s not a lock by any means and it will likely mean little otherwise.

Florida, you have my sincere gratitude for helping to bring Rudy’s self aggrandizing 9/11 rhetoric to an end.

In other news, Democratic candidate John Edwards also withdrew today.

Giuliani Is Struggling

I just learned that Rudy Giuliani is struggling financially. This month he asked senior staff members to work without pay. Ouch. He’s been claiming Florida as the holy grail for weeks, and he’s trailing both Romney and McCain in the polls by a fair margin. Between financial mayhem and low polling, Florida is going to be a white knuckle ride for Rudy. There’s even a slight hint of him dropping out of the race altogether. Hazaa’s are in order, any sign of Rudy dropping is a good sign. I’ll count this as evidence that the American political system works.

President of 9/11

Mayor Giuliani offers a bold new 9/11 for all of us. Political analyst Gregory Hammond predicts,

Sure, he has no foreign or national policy experience, and both his personal life and political career are riddled with scandal, but in the key area of having been on TV on 9/11, the other candidates simply cannot match him.

Whether or not you like Giuliani, its hard to argue with that.

Giuliani’s Death Nell

DailyKos writer Jake McIntyre released a piece earlier today predicting that Rudy Giuliani’s presidential bid is effectively over because in 2001 he illegally billed several obscure city agencies for expenses related to his affair with Judith Nathan. While Giuliani’s philandering is old news, playing at the expense of the taxpayers is alarming to say the least. Giuliani, of course, has denied allegations, but they’ve been independently confirmed by Fox News. The American people aren’t going to let this go. And they shouldn’t.

Giuliani Vows to Lie

I’ve read articles about Rudy Giuliani’s shadiness, we now have confirmed evidence. In a radio ad Giuliani makes the point that socialized medicine is less effective than our current free market system with the following statement

I had prostate cancer five, six years ago. My chance of surviving prostate cancer — and, thank God, I was cured of it — in the United States? Eighty-two percent. My chance of surviving prostate cancer in England? Only forty-four percent under socialized medicine.

Several people have questioned Rudy’s statistics and come up with entirely different numbers. When confronted, Giuliani stated that this ad will not be pulled. Is this the behavior that we want from our President?

Giuliani Is Being Tortured

While discussing his thoughts on torture, GOP hopeful Rudy Giuliani made the following comment…

They talk about sleep deprivation. I mean, on that theory, I’m getting tortured running for president of the United States. That’s plain silly. That’s silly.

I’ve been leaning away from Giuliani for some time. All of his fanciful 9/11 claims, his cross dressing, his disregard for the 2nd amendment. Now he’s crying about the being under the public microscope? His comment indicates not only that he doesn’t understand sleep deprivation, but also that the pressure and scrutiny are wearing him down.

Rudy, this is what it means to run for president. We’re not giving this office away, you have to earn it.

Giuliani Gets Booed

Rudy Giuliani went to see the Yankee’s play this past Monday, in Yankee Stadium. During the game his picture was shown on the jumbotron a couple of times. The first time it was shown the crowd had a reaction, but no one could tell if they were chanting “Rudy, Rudy” or booing. The second time his image was shown was in the middle of Ronan Tynan singing “God Bless America.” The crowd made it very clear that they were not cheering for Giuliani, they were booing. No major papers that I can find have picked up the story, though MSNBC did report it on the air.

That’s gotta hurt. In your own city, at a sporting event. Over at Daily Kos Davefromqueens wrote an essay explaining why he believes Rudy was booed. He makes some good points along the way, and he’s giving a message that resonates with many. Rudy, are you getting the message? Your 9/11 hero rhetoric isn’t selling anymore.

Rudy Has An Answer

If you ask Rudy Giuliani a question, he has an answer for you. You don’t have to go to the trouble of asking though, you already know the answer. In fact, the answer hasn’t changed in six years. The New York Daily News just released an article saying that Giuliani’s answer to every question is 9/11, with some quotes to support the claim.

Mr Giuliani Please Stop Mentioning 9/11

Mr. Giuliani, we all recognize that you were in New York City with the attacks occurred. Thank you for your help. Six years have passed, its time to move on with your life and we don’t want to hear about it from you anymore. Yes we will always remember the tragedy, but we’re tired of you gassing on in shameless self aggrandizement. The way you’re using Sept 11 is quite repulsive.
