Five Reasons That Hillary Could Be Our Next President

Over the past several weeks I have spoken to friends and participated in political forums that have questioned whether or not America is ready for Hillary Clinton to become President. In spite of arguments that America is not ready for a female President or that Hillary has demonstrated that she is not fit to wield power, she remains the Democratic front runner ahead of candidates with more experience. I decided to take a look into this.

Senator Wants to Abolish Electoral College

California Senator Dianne Feinstein announced earlier today that she plans to introduce a resolution to abolish the Electoral College. During her statement Feinstein said “I believe that the Electoral College must be abolished, and that the President be elected through direct popular election.” The Electoral College has won over the popular vote a total of four times in American history, 1824, 1876, 1888 and most recently in 2000.

United Transportation Union Endorses Clinton

Earlier today the United Transportation Union announced its endorsement of Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. This is the first official union endorsement in the 2008 campaign. In the announcement UTU’s incoming president Mike Futhey Jr stated “Hillary Clinton’s record has been friendly to working men and women of this country. She consistently has endorsed the necessity of a strong middle class.”

Clinton - Obama Ticket?

Newt Gingrich stated in a Fox News interview that he believes Hillary will win the Democratic party’s presidential nomination and she will select Barack Obama as her running mate. That’s just crazy enough to work. He went on to say that he considers Republicans Romney, Giuliani and Thompson to be formidable opponents. The Republicans will need to come out with a strong answer if that’s the case. Clinton and Obama are the leading Democrats, if they can get on the same page they’ll garner more attention.
